Personal Statement - Sponsor
I will provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment while I hold you accountable for progressing towards your goals. During our meetings, I am interested in helping you identify specifically what you would like to get out of therapy. We will stay focused on your desired outcome by committing to tasks outside of therapy. If you are having trouble making progress we will look at what is blocking you.
As children we all developed ways for us to survive in the situations we found ourselves. While these adaptations we made were essential during our childhood they may now be getting in our way. If your beliefs about yourself or the world are not accurate I will challenge them and help you replace them with more realistic thinking.
If it's appropriate for a client, I find that EMDR therapy can be really helpful for them to understand and change longstanding patterns that are no longer working.
My clients are successful people, teens and adults, with normal problems including:
Relationships
Depression
Anxiety
Parenting
Stress Management
Familial conflict
Teen issues
Anger
Grief and loss
Adjusting to life stages
Divorce
I received my MA in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 1997. My work and internship experience includes university, hospital, county and state government, and private practice settings.
Please feel free to contact me at (650) 450-0102 so I can find out what you are seeking from therapy and whether I think I would be a good match for you.
